This month, the “What U Smokin On” pick comes from Chuy, one of our cultivators, and his current favorite in the room is LA Pop Rocks x Purple Push Pop

LA Pop Rocks x Purple Push Pop is the kind of plant that makes an impression early. The structure is gorgeous, the plant carries real weight, and it’s surprisingly easy to harvest for something this expressive. It’s also one of those rare cultivars where the experience stays honest; what fills the grow room is exactly what carries through to the smoke. No translation loss, no tricks.

In the garden, LA Pop Rocks x Purple Push Pop isn’t delicate. She’s a super heavy feeder with a big appetite and an even bigger presence, stretching taller than most of the plants around her. Around weeks five to six, she puts on a dramatic color shift, fading into deep purples that feel old-school. With the kind of tones that bring Platinum Bubba-era flowers to mind. Exotic, unfamiliar, and confidently her own.

That confidence carries straight into the smoke. The flavor mirrors the aroma with precision, staying intact from first pull to finish. It’s different in the best way; not chasing trends, just doing its own thing really well.

For Chuy, harvest day is where everything clicks. He’s deeply hands-on and thrives in the fast pace and controlled chaos of bringing a crop down. It’s busy, physical, and rewarding, exactly how he likes it.

Outside the grow, Chuy is a proud father and a big nature enthusiast. He spends his free time riding go-karts and pit bikes, heading to the beach, hiking, and taking his family out whenever he can. Right now, he’s focused on getting the house ready and welcoming his next child in the next few months.
