In Rotation

This is a new section we’re experimenting with. We’re not exactly sure what it becomes long-term, but we’re excited to kick it off with Lase28, an artist we’ve had the pleasure of working with on a recent mural.

Lase28 has been putting in work since 2005, coming up out of Visalia. What started with sketching in class turned into a spray can, then into full-scale murals. From tagging with friends and chasing walls on bikes and skateboards, to building a style that carries real presence.

His work leans into contrast. Warm and cool tones, heavy light and shadow, nothing timid about it. He’s always pushing for scale, chasing the biggest wall he can find. Lately, that’s taken shape through layered tags, repeating his handstyle to build portraits that feel controlled but still raw.

We just had him come through to paint a mural for us, and it came out exactly how we hoped. The concept came together on the drive over, centered around the BONE and everything around it. Not just the smoke, but the culture, the movement, and the people tied to it. He pulled up and got straight to work, and you can feel that intention in the final piece.

He’s still based in Visalia and still locked into the craft, working with Urbanist Collective to keep pushing his art forward while staying connected to the community. Outside of painting, it’s smoking, storytelling, podcasts, movies, anime, and always evolving.

We’re grateful to have him in our orbit. The way he approaches his work, the motivation behind it, and the respect he has for the culture all show up in the final product. It’s been a real collaboration every time, and we’re looking forward to the next time we get a piece from him.
