Key Lime Pie
We picked up this pack of Key Lime Pie seeds from Purple Caper Seeds at the second Terpnami by David Downs in San Francisco. Key Lime Pie has always had a special place in the garden for us. Back in the day, it was one of our favorite Cookie phenotypes to grow, so getting the chance to run Purple Caper’s version has us excited.
Over the last few months, we hunted through the pack looking for the plant that brought the right mix of structure, aroma, resin, flavor, and overall presence. Each expression had its own lane, but one selection clearly rose above the rest.
Instead of leaning into the softer dessert side people might expect from the name, this one pushes into a putrid fruit profile with greasy, oily terps that coat the whole experience. The nose carries that funky sweet character with an edge that seems to stick to whatever bag it touches.
Not every hunt gives you something worth keeping, which is another reason this feels special. We are grateful for what we found here: a sharper, funkier side of Key Lime Pie that made the last few months worth it.
